Expert memory care, balancing competence and compassion

Tennessee professionals, experienced in the challenges that families face

Tennessee’s Appalachian Christian Village’s Pine Oaks and Magnolia Crossing Assisted Living Communities provide a safe and nurturing environment for Residents needing memory care. At Pine Oaks there is a spacious outdoor garden area that is completely secure so that our Residents with memory issues can enjoy the beauty of nature in a safe environment. Our wellness staff at both communities lead our Residents with memory issues in activities that offer them a sense of satisfaction as they complete these activities. These activities are designed to stimulate the Resident’s cognitive ability while allowing them to have fun and socialize with their peers. We also utilize peer support to assist in the initial adjustment of the memory-impaired Resident.

Appalachian Christian Village works in partnership with the Alzheimer's Association in an effort to educate the public about the realities of memory loss and to train our staff in how to work more effectively with residents who suffer from this disease. As part of our commitment to the continuing education of all of our staff members, we conduct workshops led by various professionals in the field of gerontology to educate our staff members from every department about the symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. The workshops also provide our staff with realistic training on how to respond to and assist our Residents who have memory issues. In recognition of the fact that Alzheimer’s disease can often be more devastating for family members and friends than the disease victims, we also offer orientation and training programs for friends and family members to help them understand more about the disease and give them facts that can be helpful as the Resident adjusts to living in a new environment.
